Arusha

Our lodge composes of 6 round bungalows midst a very trimmed garden. We take breakfast – and sometimes dinner – in the main house. Sometimes we got visited by a gang of monkeys. We were advised to close the doors of our bungalows.
View out of one of our noble bungalows at Mt. Meru - our first aim.
The residents are clothed very coloured. The clothes of the Massai are held in deep red, violet and blue.
The workshops of the craftsmen are mostly situated outside. We see carpenters, locksmiths, sawmills, cobblers, sewing workers and so on.
The huts along the streets usually serve as selling shops but as living rooms as well.
One of Arushas markets.
A sewing shop midtown. They sew in front of the house.
Away from the main streets we are the only white ones.
The street connecting the lodge with the centre of Arusha directly is a very dusty road. We mention that people do not like to be photographed. So we pass by and take some pictures underhand in lomographic way.
We walk through the suburbs and are inspected directly by the children – more hidden by the adults. It seems that tourist walk along here rarely.
We walk and marvel and are marvelled.
A womens project against genital mutilation in the middle of the suburb.
You get good beer in Arusha. We Austrians suggest ‘Kilimanjaro’ and ‘Safari’ beer. ‘Serengeti’ can be swallowed with serious bullishness alone.
The saleswoman just spends a contemptuous glimpse to the photographer. People don’t like to be photographed.
Above the garage, surrounded by violet blossoms Mt. Meru arises.
We ate twice at McMoody’s. It is located in the centre, food is affordable and relishable.
