On the way to Ngorongoro-National-Park we pass by a souvenir shop that offers Massai products. |

After some more miles we reach a great viewing point on the crater rib. The following three pictures could be stuck together as a panorama-picture. A very fine such you’ll find on the homepage of Detlev Kostka. |

From this point the ground of the crater weems like a desert. One cannot imagine how rich the fauna romps around down there. |
![]() |
We already meant we had not came at a very fitting time, cause everything seemed so dry. |
![]() |
The Masssai-huts fit perfectly into the landscape and build a small village outside the crater. |
![]() |
The Massai with his flock of goats discovered our cameras and swang his stick angrily. |
![]() |
Little by little the first animals appear. This zebra is not shy at all. |
![]() |
A lonesome gnu? Where is the flock? |
![]() |
Even the warthog doesn’t care about our car. It is just interested in raking in the muddy ground. |
![]() |
At the seared lake a group of flamingos is resting at the last rests of water. |
![]() |
Some distance ahead we reach a more humid zone and see a large number of wild animals in the plane. |
![]() |
This hill is just besieged by a crowd of zebras. |
![]() |
The hippos back away to the last pools during the day. Only at night and in the evenings they come out of the water to gorge. |
![]() |
At another pool buffalos and gazelles meet for a common drink. |
![]() |
A lonesome hyena follows its nose unperturbed. |
![]() |
This ‘cock’ crosses the road searching for his hen. |
![]() |
Gnus and zebras live aside in peace. |
![]() |
We argue the questions who’s the more silly one: a gnu or a cow. |
![]() |
Some warthogs enjoy in the mud of a dried out brook. |
![]() |
On the hills at the horizon we mention some huge fires. |
![]() |
We have watched this guy for already some time coming his way, and our driver knew exactly where he would pass ours. There we waited for him. It was quite an impressive meeting – at least for us. |

This lake in Ngorongoro-crater serves as the common resting place for the safari-tourists. You are not allowed to stop and walk around wherever you would like to. |
![]() |
After a long time searching around we finally found some lions as well. Unsurprisingly no further wild animals stayed near them. |
![]() |
We drive back slowly and mention a flock of black crowned cranes. |
![]() |
Some Ibis hack around in the ground and didn’t let us disturb them. |
![]() |
At these old trees we meet another big elephant. Only bulls are in the crater. The cows prefer to stay outside with their babies because of the steep descent. |
![]() |
These trees stay at the crater rib like a piece of scenery where the road leads out of the park again. |

A last picture for goodbye of Ngorongoro-crater. Our journey to Tanzania comes to an end. Already the same night at 4 a.m. we shall be at Kilimanjaro-airport and on our flight back home. |
